The wife of the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, Kirill Budanov, Marianna, was poisoned with heavy metals. This was reported on 28 November by the Babel weekly with reference to sources.

It is reported that she was hospitalised after a long deterioration of her health. Now the course of treatment is being completed, further - the control of doctors. The woman was diagnosed with heavy metal poisoning.

These substances are not used in any way in domestic or military applications. Their presence may indicate a deliberate attempt to poison a particular person, - said the source of the publication.

According to UP sources, poisoning was also confirmed in several other employees of the GUR. It is noted that Budanov's wife was "most likely poisoned through food". She is already better, she has passed the first stage of treatment.
