The longer there are no conditions for return, the fewer people will return to their original place of residence when such conditions come.

British companies are showing "significant interest" in rebuilding war-torn infrastructure in Ukraine. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Economy following the results of the British-Ukrainian Infrastructure Summit in London.

As Deputy Minister of Economy and Trade Representative of Ukraine Taras Kachka noted, most of the companies participating in the summit have extensive experience in restoring infrastructure in other countries or implementing engineering projects, from pontoon crossings to building large infrastructure facilities.

These companies are of significant interest in restoring infrastructure in Ukraine. And the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, together with the Ministry of Infrastructure and regional administrations, will work to ensure proper coordination of the actions of all participants in this large-scale project,” Kachka said.

He noted that a practical assessment of Ukraine's needs is now important for Ukraine, as well as the format for the participation of private companies in the restoration of Ukrainian infrastructure, the establishment of financial and organizational support for the implementation of such projects from the allied governments.

The Donetsk and Luhansk regions suffered the most during the hostilities, where the invaders caused irreparable damage to some settlements. There, some cities were destroyed very badly. These include Mariupol, Volnovakha, Rubizhne, Popasna, Liman and Severodonetsk. Also, the situation is difficult in the occupied communities of the Kherson region, significant destruction was inflicted on individual communities of Mykolaiv and Zaporozhye. In Kharkiv, a part of the Severnaya Saltovka microdistrict was completely destroyed.

According to preliminary estimates, more than 350,000 facilities and millions of square meters of residential, educational, medical, and sports infrastructure have been destroyed in the country, thousands of kilometers of roads and railways, airports, ports, and much more have been damaged. Some of these facilities can be restored, some have been destroyed to the ground, - said the deputy head of the presidential office, Kirill Timoshenko.
