Most Ukrainians do not want compromise with Russia and are against negotiations

62% of Ukrainians want the war to end with a Ukrainian victory.
This is stated in a poll by theDemocratic Initiatives Foundation and the Razumkov Centre.
As of December 2022, 62 per cent of Ukrainians believe that the war can only end if they win. At the same time, only 26 per cent of respondents are ready to make concessions to Russia if it will help achieve peace.
About 60% of Ukrainians think that negotiations about peace with Russia are impossible even to save lives, because Russia does not comply with the agreements anyway. 23% are ready for negotiations with Russia to save lives of our military, civilians, prisoners and deportees. 17% of the respondents could not define their position on this issue.
Moreover, Ukrainians are against negotiations and concessions to Russia if Western states reduce or stop their assistance.
The survey was conducted by the Democratic Initiatives Foundation and the Razumkov Centre between 13 and 21 December 2022 among 2018 respondents. The face-to-face survey was conducted only on the territories controlled by the Ukrainian government and where no hostilities are taking place. The theoretical sampling error does not exceed 2.3%.
