Residents of Ukraine will find work - from the preparation of firewood - to the elimination of landfills.

Within a month after the registration of a citizen of Ukraine in the employment center, he will receive material assistance provided for by the Law. At the same time, he will be offered vacancies corresponding to his skills, abilities and qualifications. However, if there are no relevant proposals, the employment center will offer the unemployed to join socially useful work. However, if he refuses such employment, he will be deprived of state material assistance in a month. Refusal of community service during martial law will be regarded as "unwillingness to contribute to their own employment," according to the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers on the organization of community service under martial law.

The government is launching a reform of the entire sphere of employment. In the context of a full-scale war, we need to mobilize all possible resources to defeat the Russian occupiers, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said .

He also clarified that the type of employment in each particular region will be determined by local authorities.

According to him, in this way, the possibility is actually eliminated when people could receive money from the state and refuse the offered work.

In wartime conditions, the state does not have the resources for this. Everyone must either fight and defend the Motherland, or work for victory and for the front, the head of government said.

At the same time, only persons fit for health reasons are planned to be involved in socially useful work. If a person is fit for work, he will be offered:

- repair and restoration work performed at life support facilities;

- demolition of rubble, clearing of railways and roads;

- construction of protective structures of civil protection, creation of the simplest shelters, anti-landslide, anti-flood, anti-mudflow, anti-avalanche, anti-erosion and other engineering structures for special purposes;

- repair and construction of residential premises;

- work to maintain the readiness of protective structures of civil protection for their intended use and operation, adaptation of existing ground or underground premises for the simplest shelters;

- loading and unloading operations performed on railways, in ports, etc.;

- agricultural work (spring field work, harvesting, haymaking);

- rendering assistance to the population, primarily to persons with disabilities, children, elderly citizens, the sick and other persons who are not able to independently counteract adverse factors of a man-made, natural and military nature;

- organization of life support for citizens affected by hostilities;

- work to ensure the sustainable operation of high-security facilities in case of emergencies;

- work related to the maintenance of public order;

- streamlining, restoration and improvement of coastal strips, natural sources and reservoirs, riverbeds, strengthening of dams, bridge structures;

- preparation of firewood for the heating season;

- liquidation of spontaneous dumps and arrangement of polygons of municipal solid waste.

And for those who refuse socially useful work, from the day of refusal, the effect of registering them as unemployed is terminated.

According to the law, in peacetime, the total duration of the payment of unemployment benefits cannot exceed 360 calendar days (at pre-retirement age - no more than 720 calendar days) within two years from the date of its appointment. But during the quarantine period (which, due to the coronavirus pandemic, we have extended until August 31, 2022), the duration of the payment of such assistance is a maximum of 270 calendar days.

The status of the unemployed and the corresponding allowance are provided from the first day of registration at the employment center.

According to the International Labor Organization (ILO), more than 5 million jobs have been lost in our country due to the war. As of May 1, 283.4 thousand people had the status of unemployed, which is 30% less than last year.
