Alexander Potapov, 68, from Vitebsk, Belarus, received two years in a minimum security prison

Alexander Potapov is a citizen of Belarus and has lived in the Vitebsk district since 1997. He has no previous convictions. He has relatives in Ukraine. During the shelling of Kiev by Russian troops, he lost his daughter and his underage niece was left without a leg.

The Zerkalo newspaper reported:

Being in a state of grief and loss, Potapov posted 2 comments on the social network "Odnoklassniki" on 8 and 16 July, where he reacted to the launch of missiles from the territory of Belarus towards Ukraine, including mentioning Alexander Lukashenko. For this he was charged with two episodes under part 1 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code (insulting Lukashenko). Since 25 August 2022 Alexander Potapov is under detention.

The edition also notes that the man fully admitted his guilt. At the trial he was emotional, but agreed with the charges brought against him. Judge Natallia Tretiakava found Aliaksandr Potapau guilty and sentenced him to two years of general regime penal colony.
