Assaulted AFU positions near Avdiivka and Bakhmut: 6 traitors convicted

Among the convicts are "former prisoner-criminals and fighters from the Russian Defence Ministry's assault units called Storm Z".

Theconvicts were captured by the Ukrainian military during the fighting in the areas of Avdeevka and Bakhmut. According to the court verdict, four of the traitors will spend 15 years behind bars and two will spend 12 years.

Investigators established that at the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, the attackers joined units of the Southern Military District of the Russian armed forces," the SBU said.

A resident of Makeyevka, one of the convicts, joined the 113th rifle regiment of the mobilisation reserve of the aggressor country. The attacker was engaged in the arrangement of roadblocks and other fortifications in Novaya Kakhovka in the Kherson region. After that, he took the position of a squad commander and was transferred to the eastern front to deter counter-offensive operations of the AFU.

Two more fighters were enlisted as riflemen in the "Storm Z" battalion. As part of this unit, they participated in battles in the Zaporizhzhya direction and then in Donetsk region. The fourth attacker wrote an "application for pardon" from the occupation "Toretska correctional colony dnr" and immediately "enlisted" in the enemy unit "East"," the report said.

Another convicted militant took the position of assistant grenade launcher after he "mobilised" into the occupation army. He also took a training course and went to combat positions in the area of the village of Peski near Avdeevka. Ede one - he signed a contract with the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation, joining the 114th separate motorized rifle brigade from the Russian Federation, which was involved in the assault on the positions of Ukrainian troops in Pokrovsky district of Donetsk region.

The attackers were found guilty under the articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:

• ч. 1 and 2 of Art. 111 - high treason committed under martial law;
• ч. 7 of article 111-1 - collaboration activity, voluntary participation of a citizen of Ukraine in illegal armed or paramilitary formations;
• ч. 2 of Art. 260 - participation in paramilitary or armed formations not provided for by law.
