US army may intervene in war in Ukraine - US general

The involvement of the US army will depend on various factors.
A multinational contingent led by the United States could intervene in the war on the territory of Ukraine, says US General and former CIA director David Petraeus. He stated this in an interview with the French edition of Lexpress .
Petraeus noted that this could happen if Russia takes "shocking and terrible" steps:
I think that Russia could take actions in Ukraine that would be so shocking and so horrific that the United States and other countries might react in one way or another, but as a multinational force led by the United States, not as a NATO force.
At the same time, the general noted that such an expansion of the conflict frightens Putin, since the Russian army turned out to be not as strong as the Kremlin had previously stated.
The American general added:
His forces are already inferior to those of Ukraine, and the last thing he needs is a wider conflict
