The SBU has detained an enemy informant who spied on air defence systems in Kirovohrad region and wanted to become a "Wagnerite".



Cyber specialists of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) have unmasked a Russian informant who was scouting the locations of the Ukrainian armed forces' bases in Kirovohrad Region, the SBU has reported on 20 February. This was reported by the SBU on 20 February.

Among his priority "targets" were the locations of Ukrainian air defence systems. Also, the figure was interested in the coordinates of warehouses with weapons and ammunition of Ukrainian defenders, - reported in the special service.

He sent the obtained information to several Russian Telegram channels, which are coordinated by the Russian intelligence services to collect intelligence on the Ukrainian Defence Forces.

In addition, the enemy informant wanted to join the fighters of the private military company Wagner and fight against Ukraine at the beginning of a full-scale war," the SBU said.

The Russian informant was detained in his own home. SBU investigators informed him of suspicion under part 2 of Article 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (unauthorised dissemination of information on the direction, movement of weapons, arms and ammunition to Ukraine, movement, movement or deployment of the AFU).

The spy is in custody without the right to bail. He faces up to eight years in prison.
