A Spaniard has set a world record on a motorbike

Spanish motorcyclist Ivan Cervantes has set a new world record for the longest distance travelled in 24 hours on a motorbike.
This is reported by the publication New Atlas.
Cervantes covered 4012.53 kilometres on his Triumph Tiger 1200 GT Explorer, beating the previous record set by American Carl Reese in 2017 by more than 600 kilometres.

Cervantes worked closely with Professor Andrew Bagshaw from the University of Birmingham to get his diet and sleep patterns right before the record attempt. He even used his own Tiger 1200 Rally Pro motorbike to prepare for the record attempt. But it's clear that no amount of training can fully prepare a person to ride round and round at high speeds for 24 hours without sleep.
It's not easy to ride for 24 hours straight, but in the end, the record belongs to me with this amazing bike," Cervantes remarked.
Apparently, he even started the bike with his left hand to reduce the stiffness and physical strain and allow the right side of his body to recover.
Going into detail, Cervantes completed a total of 317 laps around the track, with each lap being 12.649 kilometres (7.86 miles) long. He reached speeds in excess of 200 km/h (124 mph) and used a total of 520 litres (137 gallons) of fuel. He made only 18 pit stops in the entire 24-hour period.
Since 2009, when Omar Al-Mamari from Oman became the first person to set a Guinness World Record in this category, things have progressed a long way - literally. He travelled a total of 2,062 kilometres (1,281 miles) at an average speed of 94.1 km/h (58.5 mph) on his Honda CBR 1100.
Cervantes' record was recorded on the high-speed circuit of the Nardo Technical Centre in Italy.
Particularly impressive is the fact that the Triumph Tiger 1200 GT Explorer on which the record was set has not undergone any modifications. The motorbike was randomly selected from the Triumph factory in England, which emphasises its reliability and high performance.
