RF troops are trying to add another type of protection against FPV drones for armoured vehicles.

A rather unusual defence against FPV drones has been spotted on one of Russia's BMP-1s, which is added to the standard "brazier". This is reported by Defence Express.

The essence of protection is to weld on the armour metal pins that resemble antennas. They are tightly welded to the upper frontal part of the armoured vehicle.

The principle of protection is that such "pins" should cause premature detonation of the ammunition carried by the FPV drone.

In theory, this could indeed cause premature detonation of the FPV drone's munition with such a means of initiation. And should, according to the occupiers, protect against shaped charge munitions," the report said.

It is reported that it is difficult to speculate on exactly how much the premature detonation of the drone will affect the dispersion of the shaped charge. The exact answer can be given after calculations taking into account the type of ammunition and testing.

It is noted that FPV drone is often equipped with rocket-propelled grenades with standard contract fuzes. In this case, such protection is unlikely to work at all.

And in the case of using anti-personnel fragmentation ammunition, such protection will lead to even better results - due to air detonation.
