A British charity has recruited a man previously convicted of paedophilia to work with children in Ukraine

A British man who was convicted of crimes against children has taken a job with a charity organisation that provides assistance to Ukrainian children who suffered as a result of Russian aggression, the Telegraph has reported. This was reported by The Telegraph.

According to the media, we are talking about the charity Siobhan's Trust, which provided free pizzas to children and their families in Ukraine. In 2023, 52-year-old Jack Morgan, who reportedly regularly visited orphanages, schools and camps for displaced people in western Ukraine, was involved in the food distribution.

Suspicions about Morgan's identity began to emerge in the Lviv charity community when he began claiming to be part of the AFU's Foreign Legion and raising funds allegedly for the army's needs. In August 2024, local volunteers uncovered the truth about his past.

The Siobhan's Trust organisation itself, now called HopeFull, told reporters that they were not aware of Morgan's criminal record until his release in February 2024. The trust explained that all volunteers were accompanied by other people while distributing food and were never alone with the children.

Narrating the investigation, The Telegraph reports that shortly before Morgan began his work in Ukraine, he had been convicted in the UK for breaching the terms of a court order imposed on him several years earlier. These restrictions related to his contact with children. It has also emerged that the man's real name is Lee Callaghan and he is from Newport, South Wales.

In February 2017, Callaghan was granted a restraining order after he became involved in an online correspondence with a known paedophile, discussing possible child abuse. He was also found guilty of possession of child pornography and sentenced to two years in prison.

Upon his release, Callaghan changed his name to Jack Morgan. In January 2023, he was charged with breaching the terms of a court order. Shortly afterwards he travelled to Ukraine where he was employed by Siobhan's Trust organisation.

Volunteers who worked with the organisation have accused it of extremely superficial vetting of candidates. They claim the vetting process was limited to short conversations via WhatsApp, with no criminal record checks.

The Telegraph reports that although Morgan was sacked from Siobhan's Trust over a year ago, he still remains in Ukraine. There are also reports that he has been living for some time with a woman from Ukraine who has two children.

The newspaper did not specify whether the children in Ukraine or the UK were harmed because of the man's actions.
