According to journalists, G7 leaders want to strengthen sanctions against Russia. A decision will be taken at a summit in Japan later this week.
The countries want to change the approach to sanctions on exports to Russia.
Among the new measures that could be announced following the summit: combating Russia's help from third countries to circumvent sanctions, measures against the energy sector and new restrictions on export trade, agency sources said.
