Women in Ukraine awarded Senator McCain's award
The John McCain Public Service Leadership Award was presented to women in Ukraine this year.
The award is presented annually to individuals who have demonstrated outstanding leadership in the pursuit of human justice.
"Ukrayinska Pravda reported that the award was presented at the International Security Forum in Halifax by Jack McCain, son of the late senator.
At the presentation of the award, it was recalled that 15% of the AFU are women, but they also do other work under fire to win.
Jack McCain said during the forum:
Ukraine's women have unwittingly become heroines with courage, honour and dignity that have inspired the world.
The women of Ukraine were represented at the forum by First Lady Olena Zelenskaya, who addressed the participants in a video address.
Jack McCain also recalled:
My father has long spoken of the need to contain KGB man Putin.
