The West is preparing for a protracted war in Ukraine
For more than a hundred days, Ukraine has been heroically fighting for its lands.
The administration of the head of the White House, Joe Biden, is trying to reduce the destabilizing effect of the war on world hunger and the global economy, and is also doing everything to ensure the victory of Ukraine, increasing military assistance to Kyiv. The Washington Post writes about it.
The publication notes that these efforts require time and cost, and therefore it is unlikely that the war will end in the near future.
President Biden's announcement this week of a $1 billion additional security aid to Ukraine, the largest tranche of U.S. aid to date, shows Washington's determination to ensure that Ukraine can weather the battle for Donbass.
The publication suggests that the decision to supply Ukraine with more advanced weapons, such as anti-ship missiles and long-range mobile artillery capable of destroying significant military assets or repelling, indicates a growing willingness in Western capitals to risk an unintended escalation with Russia. And we are talking not only about the United States, but also about other allies - European countries.
At the same time, analysts say that the Russian Federation is much better armed today.
Despite Moscow's unsuccessful attempt to seize the capital Kyiv, in the Donbass, Russia, using artillery strikes, gradually expanded its presence in the Donbass, the analyst said.
A senior State Department official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Biden administration officials discussed the possibility of a prolonged war with global implications even before February, as US intelligence suggested Putin was preparing to invade.
During the day, the Russian invaders continued shelling the settlements of Donbass. This is reported by the National Police.
Avdiivka suffered the most - Russian troops delivered five strikes on the residential sector and the coke plant.
In total, the invaders fired at 12 settlements in the Donetsk region: Avdeevka, Bakhmut, Krasnogorovka, Ocheretino and New York, the villages of Zhelannoye, Netaylovo, Novoselovka Pervaya, Orlovka, Panteleymonovka, Kamyshevka, Nelipovka.
Civilians were killed and wounded.
