The AFU said how cold weather will affect the counter-offensive

The Ukrainian army is gradually advancing, liberating territories from invaders.

The Ukrainian army is conducting an offensive on the frontline and the fighting will not stop with the onset of cold weather. The head of the press service of the eastern group of troops, Ilya Yevlash, said that although the onset of winter "will affect the course of military operations", the specific steps of the army will depend on the weather.

If it rains, it will be one scenario, and if frost strikes immediately, it will be another. The ground will remain frozen, and heavy equipment, among other things, will be able to drive on it," he said.

Yevlash noted that fogs and rains will affect, in particular, the use of unmanned aerial vehicles.

They cannot be used in such weather. And it will be much more difficult for both army and tactical aviation to conduct combat operations," Yevlash emphasised.

He added that the Ukrainian defenders are preparing for cold weather, insulating dugouts and preparing equipment.

Of course, this is the transfer of equipment into winter condition, changing oils, adding various additives to the fuel. Also preparation in the provision of bourzhuiki, various means of heating and other types are provided," he said.

Yevlin added that the military continue to receive great assistance from volunteers, who give the military warmers and other various necessary means for heating in the cold season.
