AFU explains why Russian Federation paused in massive attacks on Ukraine

For several days in a row, Russia has attacked Ukraine, particularly the port infrastructure, with missiles.

The enemy paused and did not shell Ukrainian ports and grain storage facilities last night. At the same time, the Russians focused on reconnaissance. This was stated by the speaker of the Defence forces of the south Natalia Humenyuk on air telethon.

The enemy took a certain pause to gather information. But even this pause was filled with the sounds of "Shaheds" in our area of responsibility, - she said.

She said that Russia is trying to find out where the Ukrainian air defence system and grain storage facilities are located. Thus, the Russian army is preparing for a new massive attack, Humenyuk said.

She pointed out that last night the Ukrainian air defence had just shot down five enemy kamikaze drones over the southern regions of Ukraine.

We shall remind you that on 17 July, Russia unilaterally withdrew from the grain deal after which it started actively shelling Ukrainian grain warehouses and port infrastructure in order to prevent Ukraine from selling food. The latest such attack took place on the night of 21 July. The Russians spent several missiles to destroy grain hangars in Odessa Region.

Overall, the aggressor destroyed several tens of thousands of tonnes of Ukrainian grain over the past week. The UN estimated that the food destroyed by Russia could feed 270,000 people for a year.
