In Oleshki, occupants demand money for evacuation - State Emergency Service

Such a situation is reported in Oleshki. The acting director of the Emergency Response Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, Mykhailo Hryb, has said, Radio Svoboda reports.

Thousands of people need to be evacuated due to flooding of settlements in Kherson Region. It is impossible to evacuate people from the temporarily occupied territories and the Russians are not going to help people. Therefore, the organization of the evacuation fell entirely on the shoulders of volunteers. The occupiers started to demand money for this. In particular, volunteers from Oleshek report similar precedents.

I confirm this information. Volunteers report to us that they pass, but they pass in such a scheme. And the State Emergencies Service, unfortunately, has no possibility (to get there - editor's note) - we will be immediately shot at, there is no point for us (to move there - editor's note)," Mykhailo Hryb said.

He added that the general situation in the region, after the destruction of the Kakhovskaya HPP, is under control.

Earlier, Oleshek mayor Yevgeniy Ryshchuk spoke about the first death due to flooding. However, local residents on social networks reported that the victims had been there for a long time.

On June 8, Ukraine and the UN agreed that the organization would evacuate the population of the Left Bank and provide them with humanitarian aid. The only condition is safe passage from the territory controlled by Ukraine. They are waiting for guarantees from Russia.
