The Office of the President reacts to Russia's new conditions for ending the war

Russia has put forward new conditions for a ceasefire on Ukrainian territory.

Mykhaylo Podolyak, adviser to the head of the presidential office, reacted to the Kremlin's new proposals on "ending the conflict" in Ukraine. The politician shared his reaction on Twitter.

In particular, Podolyak called them absurd and pointed out that the new demands only confirmed the incapacity of the Kremlin regime.

Russia's demands from the mouth of the Russian Foreign Ministry rather confirm the legal and actual incapacity of the Russian leadership. Therefore only Ukraine's counter conditions are realistic," Podolyak wrote.

We would like to point out that the day before, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin said that in order to end the war, Ukraine should stop fighting and the West should stop supplying it with weapons. Moscow also demanded that Ukraine refuse to join the EU and NATO, return to neutral non-aligned status, make Russian an official language and recognise the "new territorial realities".

For his part, Podolyak pointed out that the war would be stopped on other terms. In particular:

  • Russia must withdraw its troops from the territory of the sovereign state
  • To recognize that post-Soviet countries have the right to sovereignty
  • Extradite war criminals and initiators of the war
  • Reduce armaments
  • Define a demilitarised zone on its territory
  • Give other countries access to control their nuclear weapons
  • Begin paying reparations to Ukraine
  • Divest Ukraine of its assets seized abroad

Note that Ukraine intends to return to the 1991 borders and demands a tribunal for Russian war criminals.
