The Ministry of Defense told how many bulletproof vests were provided by volunteers

Since the beginning of the war, 56% of the bulletproof vests for the fighters were provided by the Ministry of Defense, the rest were volunteers. This was stated by Deputy Defense Minister Anna Malyar.

She said that at the beginning of the war, the military department experienced difficulties in providing military personnel. At the same time, volunteer services provided great assistance, including purchasing body armor.

They bought about half of the bulletproof vests that our defenders needed these months, - said Anna Malyar, Deputy Defense Minister.

Malyar specified that since the beginning of the war, many volunteers had expressed a desire to go to the front, so there was not enough ammunition for everyone.

If we take all the bulletproof vests received by the Ukrainian army since February 24, then as of May 10, 56% were provided through various formats of agreements of the Ministry of Defense, 44% - through various formats of charitable assistance, - Malyar said.

Regarding helmets, the statistics are different, because 70% of them were received by the defenders thanks to various forms of humanitarian aid. However, the deputy minister added that the share of the Ministry of Defense in provision continues to grow.

Now the Ministry of Defense is guided by the fact that it is necessary to supply approximately 1 million people with everything necessary. It's not just about the regular army, - says Malyar.

The list also includes territorial defense, reservists and mobilized. In addition, it is necessary to complete warehouses for changing equipment and other defense forces. They try to do this as much as possible at the expense of domestic production, which is very important for the economy.

And even during May 1-10, a lot of protective equipment was received. What have you already received:

• 34.8 thousand bulletproof vests;
• 30.7 thousand helmets;
• 46.2 thousand sets of uniforms.

According to her, part of the cargo is on the way. Therefore, they were not taken into account in the statistics. The Ministry of Defense transfers all cargoes to the logistics forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

After that, the command of our army already determines priorities. After all, it is there that they see better the needs for providing units. The distribution of weapons follows the same pattern.
