In Kharkiv Region, an ex-police officer was sentenced to 15 years in prison for treason.

This is reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General.

According to the investigation, in June 2022, the acting police sergeant voluntarily went to co-operate with the Russians and helped the invaders who occupied the city of Kupyansk. In the temporarily occupied city, the traitor took the highest position.

He took the pseudo position of "acting head of the convoy service group", and later received even greater commitment to the occupiers and became "commander of the security department of convoying suspects and accused persons of the TDF of the Police Department №1 (dislocation of the city of Kupyansk)", - stated in the message.

The main task of the expoliceman was to convoy local residents detained by the enemy.

The man was detained in Kupyansk district in early 2023. At the trial he fully admitted his guilt and repented.

The panel of judges passed a guilty verdict against the traitor. He was sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property, which is his personal property, with deprivation of the rank of "sergeant of police", - added in the Office of the Prosecutor General.

We will remind, earlier the Minister of internal Affairs Igor Klymenko reported that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine on the side of the enemy about 250 police officers defected. They mostly cooperated with the Russians for the sake of higher positions.
