Over the next 4 days, water levels in flooded areas will stabilise

Although the intensity of flooding is decreasing, the water will continue to arrive," Ukrhydroenerho's press service said

We will accumulate water in the upper reservoirs in order to somehow reduce the scale of the disaster," said Igor Sirota, director-general of Ukrhydroenerho.

What's happening now:

  • The water level in the Kakhovka reservoir has dropped by almost 2.5 metres in a day;
  • In right-bank Kherson region, 1,852 houses are flooded;
  • 1,457 people evacuated, 1,286 from Korabel Microdistrict. The Bilozersk community also began to flood overnight.

Evacuation of people from potential flood zones continues. Environmental hazards caused by blowing up of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant are being assessed. The population of the region is being provided with drinking water.

As Ukrhydroenergo previously reported, due to the nature of the damage, the plant cannot be restored.
