Italy bans hairdressers from washing hair twice

Hot weather has set in the country.
In Italy, the mayor of the city of Castenaso, Carlo Gubellini, has banned local hairdressers from washing their clients' hair twice and even introduced a €500 fine for doing so. The mayor said he was forced to take this step to save water during one of the region's worst droughts in decades. It is reported by The Guardian .
Thousands of liters of water are wasted because customers wash their hair twice, he says.
He noted that the Castenazo authorities' handbook states that 13 liters of water per minute flows from an open tap, and at least 20 liters are required to rinse hair twice.
Castenaso is small. Imagine what this means in terms of water consumption in large cities,” the mayor said.
At the same time, Gubellini noted that this ban will be valid until September.
In turn, a number of hairdressers said that the order of the mayor is ridiculous, since the use of some cosmetics requires a thorough washing of the head.
It should be noted that against the background of the drought, restrictions on water consumption were introduced throughout the country. In Milan, Italy's richest city, Mayor Giuseppe Salo ordered the city's fountains closed, and Milan's Archbishop Mario Delpini made a pilgrimage to churches in the suburbs, holding a prayer service for rain.
