A trend of increasing civilian casualties was noticed by monitoring back in July.

In September, 208 civilians were killed on the territory controlled by Ukraine due to Russian aggression. According to representatives of the UN monitoring mission, the number of civilian casualties of the war is growing. This is stated in the organisation's report.

For the third month in a row, the number of civilian casualties has increased, - said the head of the IHMHR Danielle Belle.

The organisation said that 46% of the total number of fatalities were people over 60 years old. In addition, nine children were killed in September. It is noted that most people who live in frontline regions are killed during Russian drone attacks.

Belle pointed out that the number of affected Ukrainians is also growing - those who were injured, those who lost their property during the attacks.

Missile attacks across the country, especially against Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhya, have contributed to an increase in the number of victims and casualties. In September alone, 1,220 residents of Ukrainian towns and villages were traumatised during the Russian terror attack. Among them, 76 were children," the document said.

The report also says that in September Russia carried out about 30 strikes on Ukraine's infrastructure, including 25 in Kiev-controlled territory and five more in the temporarily occupied territories.

As the UN points out, the Russians struck with missiles, barrage munitions.

We would like to note that the Russian leadership denies that the Russian army is carrying out targeted strikes on civilian infrastructure, residential buildings, hospitals, schools, kindergartens, energy and water supply facilities. The Ukrainian authorities and international organisations qualify these strikes as war crimes by the Russian Federation and stress that they are targeted.
