Ukrainian employers are forced to attract foreigners - mass media


Workers from Pakistan, Nepal, India are ready to work for less than Ukrainians.
Ukrainian entrepreneurs have started hiring workers from Asia due to a shortage of labour. They are ready to work for lower wages than Ukrainians. This was reported by Forbes.
According to the Confederation of Employers of Ukraine, the number of workers in the country is rapidly decreasing. Only for two years the number of officially registered workers in the construction sector has decreased by 25.4% - almost to 300 thousand people. Some companies have lost up to half of their staff.
The situation has pushed businesses to hire foreigners. In particular, to work in Ukraine now come from:
- Pakistan;
- Nepal;
- India;
- Bangladesh;
- Philippines;
- african countries;
- Moldova;
- Uzbekistan.
They are ready to work for lower wages than Ukrainians.
According to the newspaper, the salaries of foreign labourers, car repairmen, electric welders, bricklayers, loaders, parking lot attendants start from 450 dollars a month. Experienced bricklayers are offered about $650 per month. At the same time, Ukrainians ask for such work from $900 per month.
Employers benefit from foreign labour force even taking into account the official registration and provision of housing for those who have arrived in the country, - the authors of the material note.
We would like to add that according to the results of the first quarter of this year, the average wage in Ukraine increased by 22.5 per cent compared to last year's figure and amounts to 18,903 hryvnias.
