Ukraine returned the bodies of 94 fallen defenders

This was reported by the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.

It is noted that the repatriated bodies and remains are transported by the AFU to certain state specialised institutions to be handed over to representatives of law-enforcement agencies and forensic experts to establish the identity of the dead.

In accordance with the norms of the International Humanitarian Law, the bodies (remains) of combatants killed in connection with the armed aggression against Ukraine have been handed over to the opposite side," the statement said.

The return of the bodies of the fallen defenders became possible due to the cooperation of the Coordination Headquarters with the Joint Centre under the SBU, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine (Secretariat of the Commissioner for missing persons under special circumstances), the AFU (Central Office of the Central Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs), the State Department of the State Emergency Situations of Ukraine in Sumy region, the State Tax Service of Ukraine, other representations of the structures of the security and defence sector of Ukraine, as well as with the participation of representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross.
