Ukraine offers to exchange soldiers from Azovstal for prisoners of the Russian Federation - Vereshchuk
Ukraine offers Russia to exchange the seriously wounded Ukrainian military, who are on Azovstal in Mariupol, for Russian prisoners.
This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister Irina Vereshchuk.
As a first step, the Russians were offered the following exchange: we are taking our seriously wounded guys out of Azovstal along the humanitarian corridor. At the same time, we give away Russian prisoners of war according to the standard rules for the exchange of prisoners of war. There is no agreement yet. Negotiations are ongoing, she said.
According to Vereshchuk, it is currently impossible to unblock Azovstal by military means.
The defenders of Azov did not want to surrender. It is worthy of respect. The Russians do not agree to "extraction". This is a reality, but this is not surprising from the Russians, - said the Deputy Prime Minister.
She noted that the government is working on various options for rescuing the Ukrainian military.
