Ukraine attacked Su-57s in Russia for the first time

According to the Main Directorate of Intelligence, the Akhtubinsk airfield in Russia's Astrakhan Region has been hit for the first time in history by a Su-57 multirole fighter jet, the most advanced in service with the aggressor country. It was based 589 kilometres from the front line.

The GSD published satellite images. On them it can be seen that on 7 June the Su-57 is standing on the territory of the airfield, and already on 8 June craters from the explosion and characteristic fire spots appeared near it.

This is the first successful defeat of the Su-57 since the beginning of the full-scale war.

The Su-57 is a carrier of the X-59 and X-69 missiles, and its cost is about $25m (about UAH 1bn). The developer of the Su-57 is the P.O. Sukhoi Experimental Design Bureau ("Sukhoi OJSC").

The Su-57's crew accommodates one person. Length - 19.7 m, wingspan - 14 m, height - 4.8 m, empty weight - 18.5 tonnes; normal take-off weight with 63% fuel - 26 tonnes; with 100% fuel - 30 tonnes.

Maximum speed at altitude - M 2.45 (about 2,600 km/h), maximum unsupported speed - 2 M (about 2,100 km/h). Flight duration is up to 5.8 hours and practical ceiling is 20,000 metres.

The aircraft is designed to destroy all types of air targets, defeat ground, surface targets of the enemy, monitor airspace at a long distance, disable enemy headquarters, command posts, process control systems.

According to Russia, this fighter can use a wide list of guided and unguided bombs and missiles of short, medium and long range. In particular, these fighters are carriers of Kh-31, Kh-35, Kh-38, Kh-58, and Kh-59 missiles, which are often used by the Russians to shell Ukraine.
