Ukraine names number of civilians killed in war

The Russians continue to kill Ukrainian civilians.
According to the Prosecutor-General's Office of Ukraine, more than 8,300 civilians have been killed in the country since 24 February, including 437 children. 11,000 people have been wounded.
The Prosecutor-General's Office stressed that the real figure of those killed and injured could be much higher. Prosecutor-General Andriy Kostin said that investigators do not yet have access to some territories occupied by Russian troops.
They note that in the last two months alone, more than 700 bodies of dead and killed have been found in the de-occupied territories of Kharkiv, Donetsk and Kherson regions. 90% of them are civilians
Ukrainian authorities have so far registered over 45,000 war crimes. Indictments have been sent to court against 60 people, 12 of whom have already been convicted.
In her turn, First Lady Olena Zelenska noted that today is International Children's Day and stressed that many Ukrainian children have died during the war. She also recalled some of them
Today is World Day for three-month-old Kira from Odessa. Along with her mother and grandmother, she died because the Russians hit her home with a missile.
Today is World Day for 12-year-old Kira from Mariupol. Russian soldiers shot her daddy in the head and drove the girl out of town. Miraculously, she was able to return to Ukraine.
Today is World Day for 11-year-old Yaroslav. He is the one who was prevented from being at the train station in Kramatorsk with his mother and sister. He is the one who grew up instantly when they lost their limbs.
Today is World Children's Day for Liza from Vinnitsa, Vlada from Bucha, Hrysha from Kiev.
Today is World Children's Day, the day on which the world signed the Declaration of the Rights of the Child, committing adults to uphold children's right to a happy life, education, health care and protection against violence.
But millions of children in Ukraine do not have these rights. Kindergartens, schools and hospitals have become targets for missiles. Children are taken from their parents and deported to Russia. Children in Ukraine live in the cold, without light and water. Children in Ukraine are killed by Russian bombs, raped by Russian soldiers.
Today, on this day, I want to remind adults around the world: we promised to take care of children. So every time you wonder whether to help Ukraine, think of its children. For that is what we are all fighting for here: their right to life
