Trump has promised to resume relations with Kim Jong Un

He met with the DPRK leader three times during his first term, including on the border of the two Koreas.
US President Donald Trump said at a joint press conference with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba that Washington will resume relations with Pyongyang and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, CNN writes.
We will have a relationship with North Korea, with Kim Jong-un. I got along with him very well, as you all know. I think I even prevented a war," Trump said.
He called his "relationship" with Kim Jong-un an "important asset" to the world.
I mean: I have a good relationship with him, he gets along with me. I think it's a big asset for the whole world, not just the United States," Trump said.
At the same time, Trump said Japan approves of his idea of close contacts with Pyongyang.
I think if I hadn't won this election, you would be in a very bad situation," he added.
For his part, Ishiba said Washington and Tokyo will push for the complete denuclearisation of North Korea.
During the first presidential term, Trump met with Kim Jong-un three times. Most notably in June 2019 - at the demilitarised zone on the border of North and South Korea. Trump became the first American president to set foot on DPRK territory.
