In the state of Pennsylvania, an assassination attempt was made on presumptive US presidential candidate Donald Trump during a rally. After the sounds of gunfire, he was evacuated from the stage with traces of blood on his face.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation confirmed media information that the shooter who tried to hit Donald Trump is 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks. About it writes BBC.

Srelok turned out to be a local resident from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, just an hour's drive from the place where Trump was shot.

To confirm the identity of the assailant, forensic investigators conducted a DNA test, as he did not have any documents with him.

At the same time, videos began circulating on social media of a guy who introduces himself as Thomas Matthew Crooks saying, "I don't hate Republicans. I hate Trump. And guess what? You got the wrong guy."

There is no official confirmation yet that the video was recorded by the shooter.

According to US police, one man was killed and two others were seriously wounded in the shooting in Pennsylvania. Their identities have already been established.

The Associated Press noted that such an incident was the first in more than 40 years. The last such incident occurred with Ronald Reagan on 30 March 1981. Then the shooter released six balloons in the direction of Reagan, one of them hit the president in the chest, but he survived.

Tump said on his Truth Social networkafter the incident that one of the balloons pierced the top of his right ear.

I knew right away something was wrong, I heard the whistling, gunshots and immediately felt the bullet tearing my skin. It started bleeding a lot and that's when I realised what was happening," he added.

US President Joe Biden, who is Trump's main opponent in the upcoming presidential election, said he was glad to hear that Trump was safe and feeling well.

I am praying for him and his family and everyone who was at the rally as we await more information," the US leader said.

He emphasised that there is no place for such violence in the US.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky wrote on social media that "such violence has no justification and no place in the world."

He expressed condolences to the loved ones of the victim of the attack, wished Trump a speedy recovery.

Violence should never win. I am happy to know that Donald Trump is now safe and I wish him a speedy recovery. I also express my condolences to the loved ones of the victim of this attack - the protester," Zelensky wrote.

In the evening on Saturday, 13 July, when Donald Trump was addressing supporters in Butler, Pennsylvania, an unknown person opened fire.

Trump almost immediately grabbed his right ear and ducked under the podium. He was covered by Secret Service personnel who escorted him off the stage.
