US and Russian officials have drawn up a 28-point plan to end the war in Ukraine.

US President Donald Trump has appointed Army Secretary Dan Driscoll as his special envoy to promote the US peace plan to end the war in Ukraine. The Guardian writes about this, citing its own sources.

According to the newspaper, a group of US generals may travel to Moscow as early as the end of next week. The purpose of the visit is to discuss the details of the peace plan directly with representatives of the Kremlin. It is Driscoll who will oversee this process as the new special representative of the White House.

It is noted that Driscoll is a long-time friend and former classmate of US Vice President JD Vance, which, according to the media, strengthens his political weight in the current administration.

What is known about the US peace plan

Earlier it became known that US and Russian officials prepared a 28-point plan aimed at ending the war. The document received the approval of President Trump and was officially handed over to Vladimir Zelensky, who plans to discuss it with the head of the White House in the near future.

Western media have already published the full text of the plan. According to the materials, the US proposes:

  • hand over to Russia part of the Donbass territories in exchange for long-term security guarantees to Ukraine and the EU;

  • to reduce the Ukrainian army;

  • give up long-range weapons;

  • a number of other conditions that caused a sharp reaction in Europe and Kiev.

The White House admits that the document is"difficult for Ukraine", but insists: a protracted war will lead to even greater loss of territory.

Some Western journalists drew attention to the strange wording in the text of the plan, suggesting that some phrases could have been originally written in Russian.

Reaction of Europe and Ukraine

The European Union met the US initiative with sharp criticism, calling its approach "disappointing" and the plan itself "very bad" for Ukraine. Against this backdrop, European leaders began to develop an alternative peace proposal focused on more favourable conditions for Kiev.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, addressing citizens, emphasised that the country might face an extremely difficult choice due to the US proposals.
