Trump said he would stop the war between Russian Federation and Ukraine. Biden said that Putin would not stop at Ukraine alone.

In the United States on the evening of 27 June, a debate between the candidates for the US presidency, incumbent President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump, began. The debate was broadcast by CNN.

During the debate, the candidates talked about the war in Ukraine, among other things. Trump accused Biden of giving large amounts of money to Ukraine and said that Putin would not have started the war if Trump were president.

If we had a real president that Putin respects, he would never, ever invade Ukraine," Trump said.

He also said Putin invaded Ukraine after seeing the "horrible, shameful, most shameful moment in the history of our country" when U.S. troops were withdrawing from Afghanistan.

I'm just talking about the money we're spending on this war. We shouldn't have been spending. It should never have happened. As president-elect, I will settle this war between Putin and Zelensky before I take office on 20 January. I will settle this war. People are being killed in such a senseless and stupid way," Trump said.

Biden emphasised that Putin is a war criminal.

He has killed thousands and thousands of thousands of people. And he made one thing clear: he wants to restore what was part of the Soviet empire, not just part of Ukraine. That's what he wants, and you think, to stop it," Biden said, referring to Trump.

Trump also said that Ukraine will not win the war against Russian Federation and that Ukraine is running out of men and soldiers.

Ukraine is not winning this war. They're running out of men, they're running out of soldiers. They've lost so many people. They lost these majestic cities with golden thousand-year-old domes - all because of him (Biden) and the stupid decisions he made. Russia would never have attacked if I were president," Trump said.

He noted that Russia did not take land from other countries during his presidency.

Russia took a lot of land under Obama, under Biden. But under me, no. Putin knew you can't play with me," Trump said.

Joe Biden said that Putin will not stop at Ukraine, further he will go to war on Poland and Belarus.

Earlier Socialportal reported that Trump called Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, "perhaps the greatest salesman of all politicians who ever lived".
