A collaborator from Donetsk Region was sentenced to 15 years in prison. He was involved in the torture of civilians of the left-bank Kherson region.
This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine.
According to the investigation, the convict abused people and threatened to kill them. Law enforcers documented that he shot the legs of kidnapped civilians and simulated shooting by firing near the victims' heads.
SBU officers and AFU special forces detained the militant as a result of a special operation in the temporarily occupied part of the region. Thus, the attacker was brought to the controlled territory of Ukraine in order to bring him to justice, - reported in the SBU.
The court sentenced the man to 12 years in prison. And given that the attacker was previously convicted of state treason, he will spend 15 years behind bars.
The convicted man is a former resident of occupied Zhdanovka in Donetschyna. He voluntarily joined the occupiers in eastern Ukraine back in 2014.
At the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia, he was "seconded" to the 3rd rifle platoon of the 1st company of the 5th company of the 5th battalion of the 109th battalion of the Southern military district of the aggressor country, - added in the SBU.
Together with the Russian invaders the traitor fought against the Ukrainian Defence Forces and participated in the occupation of the left bank of the Kherson region. The militant abused civilians, including "trying to force them to confess their involvement in the resistance movement".
