The suspect in Farion's murder refused to testify

The suspect's lawyer Ihor Sulima told journalists about his unwillingness to testify. The defence lawyer referred to the Ukrainian constitution, noting the legality of such a decision
Zinchenko's defence lawyer says that, in his opinion, there is no evidence of Zinchenko's involvement in Farion's murder. In general, according to him, the evidence base collected by law enforcers is doubtful. There is no gun or other things in the evidence base of the case, proving Zinchenko's direct involvement in the murder of Irina Farion.

Currently, Vyacheslav Zinchenko is in custody, he was elected the appropriate measure of restraint for 60 days, until 22 September 2024, without the right to bail. The suspect stated during his dialogue with journalists that he did not do anything with Irina Farion.
The police informed the young man of suspicion under Part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which refers to premeditated murder. The sanction of the article provides from 7 to 15 years of imprisonment.
In the evening of 19 July, an unknown person shot linguist and professor Irina Farion near her home. After that, the attacker fled, and the public figure was hospitalised in St. Panteleimon hospital with a gunshot wound to the head.
A few hours later, at 23:33 of the same day, doctors reported that Irina Farion could not be saved.
