The European Union has officially approved the sixth package of sanctions against Russia.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmygal wrote about this.

Restrictions finally affect the import of Russian oil, which will significantly affect the filling of the aggressor's budget and the ability to finance the war. Within six months, the EU plans to give up producing oil from Russia, and within eight months from all Russian oil products, the Prime Minister said.

The package contains the following sanctions:

▪️ Disconnection from the SWIFT system of a number of Russian and Belarusian banks, in particular Sberbank, Moscow Credit Bank and the Russian Agricultural Bank.
▪️ Personal sanctions against those responsible for the atrocities of Russian troops in Bucha and Mariupol, against those who support the war, leading businessmen, family members of oligarchs and Kremlin officials, defense companies and financial institutions.
▪️ Shutdown of broadcasting of three more propaganda TV channels.
▪️ Ban on the export of dual-use goods.
▪️ Prohibition of providing Russia with consulting, accounting services and services in the field of public relations and cloud services.

We are grateful to the European Union for the consolidated decision. It is important not to stop the sanctions pressure and further weaken Russia so that the aggressor does not have the opportunity to continue the war. The unity of Europe today is more important than ever for our common victory, global security and peace,” Denys Shmyhal added.

Earlier it was reported that at a meeting on Thursday, EU ambassadors supported the toughest sanctions measures imposed by the EU in recent months, and aimed at limiting Russia's ability to finance a war in Ukraine.

According to the document, the ban on the purchase of crude oil from Russia, delivered to the EU countries by sea, will come into force in six months, and oil products - in eight .

The purchase of pipeline oil was not banned , as a concession to Hungary and other countries that depend on supplies from Russia through the Druzhba pipeline.

The described measures will come into force after publication in the Official Journal of the EU.
