The Ministry of Education told how many schools have generators and what will happen to the rest in winter

Some schools will be forced to switch to a synchronous format of work.
Only 50 per cent of Ukrainian schools are provided with generators and boilers that would allow them to continue the educational process even in case of power outages. Deputy Education and Science Minister Andriy Stashkov said this on the air of the telethon.
According to our data provided by the regions, there are more than 50% of such schools. This means that these schools will study in a full-time format even in case of power outage, if they have a shelter and the security situation permits," he said.
He also explained that other schools that will not be able to operate during a blackout will give students homework assignments and then teachers will check them.
Stashkov added that schools can independently regulate the teaching schedules, if both teachers and students have time to teach and pass the compulsory programme.
According to the deputy minister, the school year will traditionally begin in early September, but the date of its completion will be determined by each school independently.
We would like to add that the Cabinet of Ministers has set the duration of the school year 2024/2025 from 2 September 2024 to 30 June 2025.
