The head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine, Matti Maasikas, said that no one will ever recognize the forced issuance of Russian passports to residents of the occupied territories of the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions of Ukraine.

He wrote about this on Twitter .

According to Matti Maasikas, the Kremlin was forced to abandon the idea of holding a "referendum" in the occupied territories, deciding to replace it with the passportization of the population.

The Russian occupying forces were forced to abandon all ideas of holding a "referendum" in the Kherson region due to the lack of any support. Why do they think that the now planned "passportization" will be more successful? And in any case, no one will ever recognize such actions,” he said.

Recall that Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the simplified acquisition of Russian citizenship for residents of the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions of Ukraine, which are now temporarily occupied by Russian troops.
