A serviceman who switched to the enemy's side has been convicted. He helped to correct the Russian Federation's missile-artillery and drone strikes on the frontline territory in the south of Dnipropetrovsk Region.

This is reported by the Security Service of Ukraine.

According to the convict 's coodinates, the enemy tried to destroy the port infrastructure of Nikopol and local shipping facilities.

In addition, among the main tasks set by the enemy was to establish locations of AFU units near the water area of the Dnieper. However, military counterintelligence officers of the SBU timely detected the attacker, documented his criminal actions and detained him. This made it possible to carry out comprehensive measures to secure the defence forces from shelling from Russian Grads, artillery and kamikaze drones," the SBU said.

The enemy henchman turned out to be a serviceman who was serving in one of the military units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Russian special services recruited the convict remotely. He came to the attention of the FSB because of his mother, who lives in the temporarily occupied Energodar and is in contact with the enemy intelligence service.

Based on the collected evidence, the court found the attacker guilty under part 2 of article 28 and part 2 of article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (state treachery committed by prior conspiracy by a group of persons under martial law), - added in the SBU.

The serviceman was sentenced to 15 years' imprisonment with confiscation of property.
