Syrsky says Ukraine will soon go on the offensive

Ukraine needs to buy time for a spring counter-offensive, which is just around the corner.

Ukraine is doing its best to hold Bakhmut, Donetsk Region, and is preparing to launch a counteroffensive in the near future. This was stated by the commander of the Ground Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyy, who visited the positions of the Ukrainian army in Bakhmut.

The general said that forces and resources had been brought in to defend Bakhmut, which prevented the Russians from realizing their main plan - to reach the Donetsk and Luhansk regions' borders and forced them to give up advancing.

Syrskyy stressed that Ukrainian soldiers were fighting bravely and inflicting maximum losses on the enemy.

We need to buy time to accumulate reserves and launch a spring counteroffensive, which is just around the corner," Syrskyy said.

The general said that the situation on the line of contact was under control and that all necessary measures were being taken to hold Bakhmut.
