Reznikov's adviser tells how many F-16 fighters Ukraine needs from partners
Ukraine wants to form three or four squadrons of fighters.
Ukrainian Defence Minister Oleksiy Reznikov's advisor Yuriy Sak said this in an interview with Politico.
He said that Ukraine wants to receive 40 to 50 F-16 fighters from the allies. In this way three or four squadrons could be formed to protect the Ukrainian sky from Russian bombing.
Everyone understands that this topic is ripe for discussion. No one said it was impossible. If you compare it with three months ago, when we were still fighting over tanks, today everyone is talking about a coalition of fighter jets - this is a very promising sign.
Sak stressed that Ukraine's air defence would not be complete without F-16 fighters.
The adviser also said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is pushing for the issue of combat aircraft to be high on the agenda of the G7 summit in Hiroshima and the NATO summit in Lithuania in July.
