Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the enemy has used 1,068 chemical attacks.
This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Mobile groups and other units of the grouping of support forces and means of support have recorded 1,068 facts of use by the Russian Federation of tear-acting irritants, which are equipped with poisonous chemicals," the statement said.
In February 2024 alone, 250 cases were recorded: 244 applications of HE, one application of gas and 5 applications of other munitions with chemical substance.
It is noted that the use of such weapons is prohibited for warfare (combat operations) by paragraph 5 of Article 1, paragraph 5 of the Chemical Weapons Convention.
The chemical warfare intelligence units take samples of soil, vegetation, munitions debris and send them for analyses," the AFU General Staff added.
Documented cases of the use of dangerous chemical substances are handed over to the investigative bodies, which carry out an investigation.
