Ukraine relies heavily on the support of its partners.

Ukraine will need financial support from partners in order to pass 2024. According to the country's Prime Minister Denys Shmygal, tentatively, Ukraine will have to attract 42bn dollars for its needs,Interfax-Ukraine has reported.

He noted that the amount at first glance is large, but he stressed that this is only the budget expenditures planned for 2024.

The government is counting on $18 billion from the EU, $12 billion from the United States, as well as funds under multi-year programmes from Japan and Norway for $5.5 billion and $7.5 billion respectively. There is also support in the form of a four-year IMF programme for $15.6 billion," he said.

Shmygal added that together with the European Commission, within the framework of the Ukraine Facility programme, a plan for the country's reconstruction is being worked out for a total volume of 50 billion euros, for a period of four years.

The head of the government added that since the beginning of the Russian invasion Ukraine had attracted about 65bn dollars of partner assistance in the form of soft loans and grants.

Of these, 32.6bn was attracted in 2023, primarily from the European Union, the United States, the International Monetary Fund, Canada, Japan and our other partners and allies. This year, we plan to attract $42 billion of macro-financial and partner assistance in the form of low-cost long-term loans and grants," Schmigal said.
