The agents positioned themselves as a pro-Russian "underground.

According to investigators , the hostile henchmen are two local residents who, after the start of a full-scale invasion, were recruited by Russian special services.

The Security Service of Ukraine reported:

The attackers were engaged in covert preparation of custom-made stories for the Kremlin information resources. In their materials, they called for the capture of the southern region and the physical liquidation of the leadership of the regional military administration.

To disguise their subversive activities, the traitors posed as "bloggers", allegedly informing citizens about the internal situation in the Nikolaev region.

As a result of investigative and operational measures, the SBU officers established contacts of Russian agents. They turned out to be several representatives of the Kremlin news agency RIA Novosti.

Also, the criminals transmitted to the aggressor data on the locations and movements of the military and information on the results of shelling of Nikolaev by the occupiers:

Another task of the attackers was to collect intelligence about the places of temporary deployment and movement of defense forces in the front-line areas, for which the traitors received financial rewards.

They also leaked to the aggressors information about the consequences of regular rocket and artillery shelling of the regional center.

SBU investigators informed both detainees of the suspicion:

The detainees were informed of suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 111 (high treason committed under martial law) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The court chose them a measure of restraint in the form of detention.
