SBU detains spy who was preparing a breakthrough of Russian DRGs to Sumy region

A resident of Sumy came to the attention of the FSB because of the distribution of pro-Kremlin comments on his own page in the social network "Odnoklassniki".
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has detained another FSB agent who was scouting the locations where the Defence Forces were stationed in Sumy Region. This was reported by the SBU on 31 January.
According to available data, the occupants hoped to use information from the agent to carry out targeted missile and artillery strikes on military facilities of the AFU, as well as to prepare breakthrough routes for Russian DRGs in the border area of Sumshchyna, - the special service said.
The SBU officers were proactive - they timely exposed the agent, documented his criminal actions and detained him during the reconnaissance mission.
The detainee was a 54-year-old resident of Sumy, who was remotely recruited by the intelligence service of the Russian Federation in August 2023.
He came to the attention of the FSB because of the distribution of pro-Kremlin comments on his own page in the social network Odnoklassniki," the SBU said.
For completed tasks, the occupiers sent the spy a monetary reward, which was received by him through cryptocurrency payments.
SBU investigators informed the detainee of suspicion under part 2 of article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed under martial law). He faces life imprisonment.
