SBU detains former policeman who spied for the Ukrainian armed forces

The spy was exposed with the personal assistance of Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko.
The SBU has unmasked a Russian agent in Mykolaiv Region. He turned out to be a former law enforcer, who was dismissed from the National Police in March 2023. About it reports the SBU.
The defendant worked for the Russian FSB and passed to the enemy information about the locations of basing and movement of the Defence Forces in the Nikolaev and Odessa regions, - stated in the message.
The disclosure took place with the personal assistance of the Minister of internal Affairs Igor Klymenko.
According to the investigation, the enemy informant is a resident of Nikolaev. From 2016 to 2020 he was on the territory of temporarily occupied Crimea and periodically travelled to the Russian Federation, where he was attracted to the cooperation of the special service of the Russian Federation.
At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, he was tasked to return to mainland Ukraine and get a job in one of the units of the National Police.
While in his position, he not only spied for the enemy, but also carried out subversive activities against Ukraine. It was established that the agent of the Russian Federation transmitted false information to the Ukrainian defenders about the ways of movement of enemy military equipment, - reported in the SBU.
Subsequently, the defendant was dismissed from law enforcement agencies because of committing a road accident in a drunken state. He continued to work in favour of the Russian Federation.
On the basis of the collected evidence he was informed of suspicion. A preventive measure in the form of detention has been chosen for the attacker.
