Russians attacked Odessa: civilian infrastructure under attack
A Russian drone strike on Odessa caused a fire in a multi-storey apartment block.
On the night of 19 July, the Russians attacked Odessa with attack drones. As a result of the attack, a fire broke out on the 6th to 9th floors of a 9-storey residential building. One person died, there are injured. This was reported in Telegram Odessa mayor Gennady Trukhanov and the head of the regional state Administration Oleg Kiper.
Despite the active work of air defence forces, there is damage to civilian infrastructure. In particular, apartment blocks, - informed Kiper.
The head of the Odessa Regional State Administration also informed that, tentatively, it was known about at least three victims.
The State Emergency Service indicated that the rescuers together with volunteers liquidated the fire in a residential building. From the burning flats were rescued five people. One woman died on the spot.
From the damaged flats were evacuated pets. Information about the injured is being established," the State Emergency Service added, showing footage of the aftermath of the night attack.
A total of 58 rescuers and 16 units of fire-fighting equipment were involved in the elimination of the fire.
In general, the city was hit by about 20 drones, Trukhanov said. According to his information, the drones came at the city from different sides.
He also pointed out that in the premises of a kindergarten, located near the site of the Russian attack, a temporary shelter was provided for the residents of the damaged house. People here can get tea and just water and charge their phones.
According to locals, fires are still being put out in the town, there is damage to residential houses and a heavy odour of burning.
As the monitoring channels noted, such an attack on Odessa "hasn't happened for a long time."
