SBU finds evidence that Russian Federation kills Ukrainians with missiles from North Korea.

The SBU has documented facts of Russian air attacks on Ukrainian civilian infrastructure using North Korean ballistic missile weapons. This was reported by the SBU on 22 February.

We are talking about ballistic missiles of the Hwasong-11 (KN-23/24) type, which are manufactured on the territory of the DPRK. According to the investigation, Russian troops fired more than 20 North Korean means of destruction at Ukraine, the special service said.

At least 24 civilians were killed and more than a hundred civilians were seriously wounded as a result of enemy shelling by North Korean missiles.

One of the first facts of the aggressor's use of DPRK ballistics was recorded on 30 December 2023 during the shelling of Zaporizhzhya," the SBU said.

The next shelling by North Korean missiles the occupants carried out in early January 2024 on an apartment building in Kiev. Then 4 residents of the capital were killed, more than 50 more are in serious condition.

In addition, Russian troops struck DPRK ballistic missiles at the residential houses of five frontline settlements in Donetsk region, which resulted in the death of 17 civilians.

The Russians also launched North Korean missiles at private homes of Kharkiv residents and killed three civilians. More than 60 more Kharkiv residents were seriously injured.

Now these facts are documented by SBU investigators in the framework of criminal proceedings under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:

  • art. 111-2 (aiding and abetting an aggressor state);
  • art. 438 (violation of the laws and customs of war).

Logistical routes for the delivery of DPRK weapons to the territory of the Russian Federation are being established.
