Russian DRG tried to break through the border in Sumy Region

Members of the Territorial Defence Forces have foiled an attempt by a Russian sabotage and reconnaissance group to cross the Ukrainian state border in Sumy Region. This was reported by the commander of the AFU Joint Forces, Lieutenant-General Serhiy Nayev, on 4 February.

In the Sumy direction, the soldiers of the Territorial Defence Forces, who protect the Northern Operational Zone, foiled another attempt of an enemy sabotage and reconnaissance group to cross the state border of Ukraine, - he said.

Yesterday at 18:20 on the outskirts of Glukhivska community, the fighters of one of the strongholds noticed the movement of an armed group of ten people.

The Ukrainian fighters started a gun battle and called in counter-insurgent reserves from their battalion. After a few minutes, mortars joined the battle, tightly covering the place where the enemy forces were concentrated with fire.

Having suffered losses, the enemy changed tactics, splitting into two groups. One of which under the cover of its artillery carried out the evacuation of the bodies of the dead and wounded. The second group attempted to outflank the stronghold," Nayev said.

At that time, a Ukrainian counter-sabotage group arrived at the battle site. The battle lasted for an hour and a half. Thanks to the skilful actions of the fighters, the enemy was pushed far beyond the Ukrainian border.
