Russia says it will change its nuclear doctrine because of "Western actions"

According to Ryabkov, work to change the provisions of the document is already "at an advanced stage."
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that Russia will change its nuclear doctrine based on analyses of recent conflicts and "the actions of the West".
"The work is at an advanced stage, and there is a clear intention to make a correction, which is also conditioned by the study and analysis of the experience of the development of conflicts in recent years, including, of course, everything related to the escalation course of our Western adversaries in connection with the NWO," he said in an interview with TASS.
According to him, the foreign policy situation is seriously aggravated by the actions of the US and its allies, and Moscow continuously analyses how its documents in the sphere of nuclear deterrence correspond to these challenges.
The Russian State Duma earlier warned that Russia might change its nuclear doctrine. The possible reason for this was called "new threats and challenges". Later, the Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed that "some kind of concretisation" could happen after some time, "if the West continues further escalation."
For his part, Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin said that Russia's nuclear doctrine is a living instrument that can be amended if necessary.
According to the "Fundamentals of Russia's State Policy on Nuclear Deterrence of 2020," the use of nuclear weapons by the Russian Federation is possible if the enemy uses these or other types of weapons of mass destruction against the Russian Federation and its allies, if reliable information is received about the launch of ballistic missiles to attack Russia and its allies, if the enemy affects the facilities necessary for retaliatory actions by nuclear forces, as well as in the case of aggression against the Russian Federation with the use of conventional weapons, when the very existence of the state is threatened.
