Ombudsman: Russia illegally deports Crimean political prisoners to its territory

Russia violates international humanitarian law by unlawfully deporting Crimean political prisoners
This was reported by the Ukrainian ombudsman in his Telegram channel.
Illegally sentenced to almost 7 years in prison, a political prisoner, citizen journalist, Crimean activist Irina Danilovich, will be escorted on 17 July from the temporarily occupied Crimea to the Russian city of Krasnodar," the statement said.
This is despite the fact that her health condition has noticeably deteriorated:
Her ear disease has worsened, which can cause her to lose her hearing completely, she suffers from constant headaches and impaired coordination of movements," Labunets said.
In more than a year of her stay in the isolation centre, the prisoner has never received the necessary medical care. The fact of her deteriorating health is completely ignored by the administration of the Simferopol pre-trial detention centre.
Once again I draw the attention of the international community - the Russian Federation continues to brazenly violate the Geneva Convention, according to which the failure to provide medical care is equated with torture and torture, - urged the human rights activist.
It also became known about the transfer of two more political prisoners - Farhod Bazarov and Mejit Abdurakhmanov. They are planned to be taken to the city of Balashov, Saratov region.
By such actions Russia violates the norms of international humanitarian law: Article 49 IV of the Geneva Convention, which prohibits the occupying state from forcibly transferring civilians from occupied territory to its own," Labunets said.
The ombudsman calls on the international community to step up and demand that Russia grant access to the detention centres of all illegally imprisoned Ukrainian citizens and immediately release them.
